Last year, we began a partnership with Ree Drummond (you know her as The Pioneer Woman.) We had a lot of fun with Ree and made a lot of tasty recipes. This year, we thought we’d invite some other food bloggers to join in on the fun, with a new interactive forum called Kitchen Conversations.
Kitchen Conversations is all about sharing recipes, tips and cooking experiences. Joining Ree and me are four other amazing food bloggers: Brenda from A Farmgirl’s Dabbles, Sommer from A Spicy Perspective, Julie from The Little Kitchen, and Maria from Two Peas & Their Pod.
You can keep up on all the recipes and cooking love through the hashtag #KtchnConvo whether you're on Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram. You can also check out what we're doing right here on LandOLakes.com.
Our first Kitchen Conversation was all about food trends. We talked about meatballs, Asian flavors, comfort foods with a global edge, and—everybody’s favorite—popcorn.
And I was happy to get to talk about a trend that never really goes out of style: easy dinner solutions.
One of our favorite new inspirations in the Test Kitchen is Sauté Express® Sauté Starter. Sauté Express® Sauté Starter is an easy, delicious way to add plenty of flavor to fresh weeknight meals. You’ve got your butter, olive oil, and herbs and spices all in one convenient square. It’s one step, no prep to cook fresh chicken, pork or fish. And in less than 30 minutes, you’ve got a delicious meal on the table!
I love all the Sauté Express® Sauté Starter flavors—Garlic & Herb, Italian Herb, Savory Butter & Olive Oil and Lemon Pepper—but today I’m going to share with you how the Garlic & Herb flavor can make a tasty weeknight meal a snap. This will easily become a family favorite, and it fits well into that easy meal trend.
To start, cut some sweet potatoes into wedges, toss them with a little oil and salt, and roast them at 400˚F until they start to turn golden brown—about 40 minutes.
Next, you’ll prep the chicken. I recommend using one Sauté Express® Sauté Starter square per ½ pound chicken. For this recipe, I used two 4-ounce chicken breasts. Cut down the underside on the thickest part of the chicken, or flatten the breast to make the thickness more uniform to help with even sautéing.

Melt one square of Garlic & Herb Sauté Express® Sauté Starter in a nonstick pan over medium-low heat. When it starts to bubble and sizzle, you will literally see, hear and smell that it is ready. Add your chicken and cook until it has been infused with all of that delicious garlic and herb flavor.
And while you’ve got your chicken on the stove and your sweet potatoes in the oven, you can steam some green beans and toss them with a little butter and your favorite seasoning.

Garlic chicken, crunchy green beans and earthy sweet potatoes. Nothing could be easier—or tastier!
What’s your easy dinner solution?
