I am my father’s daughter in many ways – I got his long legs and his analytical nature, his love of puzzles and his frugal approach to money. I did not, however, inherit his taste in desserts.

Summertime is finally here! And that means that our favorite fruits and veggies are available – fresh, at affordable prices. Farmer’s markets are a great resource, and we are fortunate enough to have our very own in Ryan’s grandparents (Becky’s parents).

When my husband and I are home on a Saturday morning, we try to be good. We start the day with some exercise, come home and eat our usual (I like cold cereal, he goes for oatmeal.)

At our house, we L-O-V-E grilling. Since we live in a townhome, our grill happily lives in our garage. That means that all it takes to make a meal is to wheel the grill out a few feet and light it up. How convenient!

When I think about French toast, I can picture myself as a grade-school-aged kid in my aunt and uncle’s crazy-busy kitchen. I’m wearing my PJ’s, swinging my feet from the bench seat at their kitchen table, and there is breakfast chaos all around me.

When my co-workers and I go out for lunch, we usually laugh about how we are creatures of habit. Even the most adventurous eaters have fall-back items – our own comfort food to make menu selection easy.

Big changes are in store for my family: this spring my younger sister will marry her high school sweetheart. Then in the summer, our brother and his girlfriend will tie the knot. Two weddings in four months! Crazy, right? These weeks of preparation have been hectic with planning and jam-packed with parties. We have so much to celebrate!

March in Minnesota comes with good news and bad news. The bad news is, it’s probably going to keep snowing even though spring is technically here. The good news? While you’re stuck inside, you have hours of March Madness basketball games to keep you entertained!
