It’s a Sunday afternoon at home watching well... whatever game is on the TV! I live in a house with sports fans, so it looks like probably not one but two football games, a re-cap of college games and then hockey! We love hanging out with family and friends on Sunday afternoons.

My kids love chicken, and I’m always looking for ways to make easy weeknight dinners that aren’t the same old thing. Something that will wake up the family’s taste buds and get them excited to come to the table.

What's for dinner tonight? “Fruit!” “Chicken!” “Can we order out?” (no.) “I'm a vegetarian” (since when?) “Remember, we have friends coming over tonight!” (Of course I remembered we have friends coming over!). Ever have one of "those" moments?

At our house, we L-O-V-E grilling. Since we live in a townhome, our grill happily lives in our garage. That means that all it takes to make a meal is to wheel the grill out a few feet and light it up. How convenient!

When my co-workers and I go out for lunch, we usually laugh about how we are creatures of habit. Even the most adventurous eaters have fall-back items – our own comfort food to make menu selection easy.

About a year ago I wrote about bringing a meal to a new family in our neighborhood. Kirby and Annie had recently moved in and had their first baby, a little girl named Kendall. Well, it’s been over a year and Kendall is now a very busy one year old. I thought it would be fun to invite the family over for dinner and include my son Ryan and his wife Amanda since the two couples are friends.

One of Ryan and my favorite finds since getting married and moving to a new part of the city, is a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant near our house. An old friend introduced us to it (or we would probably have never known it existed), and since then, it has become a favorite. It’s very authentic, has prompt service and basically is our “happy place” for last minute dates.
