For your special potluck, why not awe them with simplicity? There's no need to get elaborate — sometimes the best recipes are old favorites or something simple done a little differently.

Knock 'em dead with crispy, home-baked Flax Seed Cracker Bread and gourmet deli hummus, or lure them in with something warm, cheesy and comforting - like Pesto Lasagna Roll-Up. Stun them with a simple Autumn Fruit Tart with a cookie crust that serves beautifully. Add some life to your presentation by serving whatever you offer on a pretty plate with a simple garnish like parsley, mint or berries.

Orange Cream Dream Cake

Usually, I’m all about the sheet cake. But for birthdays or special occasions, layer cakes aren’t that much more work and the ‘wow’ factor is certainly higher! We had friends visiting and their daughter was turning seven. It was a predicted to be a hot day, so I wanted a cake that was light. I had made the Orange Cream Layer Cake once before and was dying to make it again.

A Little Syrup and a Whole Lotta Love!

With school back in full swing, there’s not a ton of time to cook breakfast in our home. With Jeremy gone by 4am and three girls to manage on my own every morning, I just don’t have enough time for an elaborate breakfast. Sadly, it’s usually cold cereal, toast, or toaster pastries for the girls. For me, it’s oatmeal with whole grain toast and a cup of Joe!
