Spain Inspired Smoked Salmon Appetizer

Whenever I’m asked to bring an appetizer to a party, I usually revert to my usual repertoire: fancy cheese and crackers, olives, or nuts. It’s not that I don’t like to make appetizers; I’m just not very creative when it comes to making new ones. To get out of my appetizer "rut" I researched recipes from around the world, trying to inspire ideas for new and different recipes.

Appetizer Party Made Easy

Appetizer Party Made Easy

In a previous life, I was a chef at a catering company. Needless to say, the holidays were always busy with parties for a variety of organizations. My favorite parties were, hands down, the ones that focused on appetizers.

Make Ahead Meals – No Stress Involved!

Do you get tired of planning dinner after a busy day at work? Even if you put meat in the refrigerator to thaw in the morning or have some staples in your cupboard, it still gets to be a chore to get everything pulled together at the end of the day.

Sprinkling the Fair with Snowflakes

Every year my younger daughter’s school holds a Holiday Fair, with lots of games and crafts and gifts, plus a giant bake sale. Each family brings at least one item for the bake sale. Cut-out cookies are always a big seller, so I decided on Eggnog Snowflakes as this year’s Lacey-Gotz contribution.

Cookie Decorating Tips

Cookie Decorating Tips

Holiday baking is a big deal in our family. A few weeks before the holidays, everyone in my family will get together to bake all our cookies in one weekend. It’s so much fun; we hardly realize how hard we are working.

Christmas Eve is a special time, and your tradition sounds fabulous. Offering a few appetizers is a great way to both welcome guests and complement your main course.

A few minutes before your guests are expected, pop Roasted Onion & Garlic Crostini into the oven. While the fragrance of roasted vegetables fills the house with anticipation, get the party started with a colorful platter of Cranberry Chutney Cheese Spread with crackers. The crostini will be toasty warm and ready to serve before you know it!

Then, pop pre-baked and frozen Red Pepper Asiago Gougère Bites into the oven for 8-10 minutes—you’ll soon be ready for another round of irresistible, warm nibbles.

Before you cook the fish and shrimp, set out a tray of fresh veggies and dipping sauces. Everyone can munch away on veggies and any remaining appetizers as they eagerly await the main event.

Happy Holidays!
