"Consumer Affairs. This is Tami. How may I help you?" If you call Land O’ Lakes with a question, praise, or even a concern, you may hear my voice on the other end. In addition to writing for the Recipe Buzz® Blog, I recently began working in the Consumer Affairs department. Speaking to our consumers is a rewarding experience and I am enjoying my new role very much.
With any new position come some adjustments. Ever since my first child was born, I have worked mainly from home. For the first time, I am coordinating childcare, commuting in the midst of construction traffic and arriving home shortly before the dinner hour scramble. Fresh, tasty, nourishing meals are important to me, but now more than ever, I want to simplify my time in the kitchen.
One of the perks to my Consumer Affairs position is that we find out about new Land O Lakes products before they are in the market, and we have the opportunity to test them out. When I learned about Sauté Express Sauté Starter, I was truly intrigued and excited. Sauté Express seems to have been created for busy moms like me who want convenient, yet healthy, meals for their family.
What is Sauté Express, you ask? Sauté Express is a seasoned butter and olive oil sauté starter. Each box holds 6 squares, which are designed to flavor and cook chicken, pork, or fish on the stovetop in under 30 minutes. Sauté Express uses real ingredients (none of those ingredients that you can’t pronounce.) Four enticing flavors are offered: Italian Herb, Garlic & Herb, Savory Butter & Olive Oil, and Lemon Pepper.
The boxes have easy to follow directions, and there are great recipes on landolakes.com. Garlic Chicken & Potatoes is a perfect example. It uses the Garlic and Herb Sauté Express plus only 3 other wholesome ingredients; chicken breasts, red potatoes and green beans. I love that all of the herbs and seasonings are already combined into the Sauté Starter. No more buying some pricey herb, using it for one recipe and then discovering it weeks later languishing in the veggie bin.

To begin, pierce the red potatoes with a fork 2 or 3 times.

Microwave the potatoes for 3-5 minutes, or until they just begin to soften.

Melt 2 Sauté Express squares in a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-low heat just until bubbles begin to form.

It is very important to monitor this process, because you do not want the squares to melt too quickly and burn.

Add the chicken to the pan. Chicken breasts vary a lot in size, but I find that 4 breasts are approximately one pound and the right amount for my family.

Sauté the chicken for 13-18 minutes or until it is golden brown on both sides. It should reach 165°F. Remove the chicken from the skillet.

Melt one more Sauté Express square in the skillet.

Cut the potatoes into bite-sized wedges.

Add the potatoes and the green beans to the skillet.

Cover the pan and cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, about 8-10 minutes or until the green beans are tender and the potatoes are golden brown.

Dinner is ready! Slice the chicken and serve it with the potatoes and green beans.

"More chicken, please!" said my non-chicken-eating daughter not only once, but twice. I loved the crisply tender crunch of the garlicky green beans. Cleanup was a breeze, since everything cooked in one pan. The product is very versatile. Each Sauté Express square cooks 2 pieces of meat, so it is easy to modify the recipe for empty nesters, or even larger families. Sauté Express is the perfect solution for toss-in-the-pan convenient dinners for my family. I think you will love it, too!
If you’re looking for a quick and delicious dinnertime solution, try Garlic Chicken & Potatoes. Make it for your family tonight, and make sure to come back and let me know what you think about this product..
