Q My son is graduating this spring. Do you have any special dessert recipes suitable for a graduation party?

- Marjorie

A

Celebrating a graduation is a great way to end one journey and to begin another. Skip the expensive bakery treats and make your party special with one or more of these easy-to-make desserts, sure to be crowd pleasers for all ages.

You can’t go wrong with Celebration Cupcakes, classic—cupcakes decorated with colored frosting and confetti sprinkles. Or keep it simple with an irresistible Mocha Almond Sheet Cake, made easy with cake mix, and made delicious with a mocha cream cheese frosting. Stack up a plate of everyone’s favorite Peanut Butter Cookie Cups, and you’re sure to have one of the smartest parties around. For even more great dessert and menu ideas, browse our Graduation Open House recipe collection.

Congratulations to you and your son!

Hello my name is Maria. I love your versatile butter cookie recipe but I wanted to add chream cheese to the dough and I was wondering how can I ?? Do I need to substitute anything or can add it in as addition to the rest of the ingredients.

This is a great question! I reviewed several butter cookies and have come to the conclusion that for this recipe you should be able to add a 3-oz. package of cream cheese successfully to the recipe. One change, though, I would make is to lower the amount of sugar to 1 cup from 1 1/2 cups. I have not tested the recipe as of this time but will test it and confirm this for you.
