Q I am 13 years old and I want to make a meal for Mom on Mother's Day. I need something easy that I can do.

Kaitlyn, I think that is a wonderful, thoughtful idea, one that your mother will surely appreciate. I also think it’s terrific you’re taking an interest in cooking. It’s never too early to start learning your way around a kitchen, and cooking is not only a practical skill, it’s something I find particularly fulfilling — even relaxing, sometimes!

Your mom will appreciate your efforts any time of day, but why not start her Mother’s Day off right, with a delicious breakfast? You can make any of these creamy Breakfast Coolers with just three or four ingredients and a blender. (My favorite is the Peaches and Cream!) You’ll need to plan a little bit in advance to make sure you have frozen fruit, juice and Land O Lakes® Fat Free Half & Half on hand, but in the morning, it will only take about five minutes to blend one up. (Remember to clean up after yourself, too!)

You can also make a delicious breakfast in the microwave. With some eggs and your mom’s favorite omelet toppings (any mix of shredded cheese, chopped vegetables and cooked breakfast meat will work), you can make her a hot Omelet in a Cup in just 10 minutes. Just be sure to use a cup you know is microwave safe, and keep an eye on the cooking time, because every microwave cooks a little bit different.

If you’re already more confident in the kitchen, you should try our Mediterranean Breakfast Pizza. You can find prepared pizza dough in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. In this recipe, we add garlic and herb flavor to the crust with Sauté Express ® Meal Starter, which is easy to find next to the butter. Once the crust is baked, you top it with cooked onion, spinach and sun-dried tomatoes; soft scrambled eggs; and cheese. Your mom will love it.

Please come back and comment to let me know how it goes!

Butter can be frozen in its original package for up to 4 months. To protect the butter I put the package into a freezewr safe resealable plastic bag. Also, once the butter is thawed you should use it within 30 days.
