About: Liz

In addition to being a blogger for landolakes.com, I am also a writer for the monthly Measuring Cup(R) newsletter, plus Development Director at a Waldorf school, mother of two daughters, and an occasional yoga teacher. My life is busy, but not so busy that I would ever dream of cutting out baking. I love a challenging recipe, and making things from scratch is one of my greatest joys in life.

I fell in love with cooking and baking in 7th grade during home economics – my favorite things to bake were lemon meringue pie and apple dumplings, and my mom requested them often any time she needed something for company, or as a treat to bring to one of her many volunteer committees. My mom was an inspiration, making meals from scratch and baking cookies and simple desserts — her lemon pudding cake was my favorite.

Since they were little, my daughters Kate and Zoey have been great helpers in the kitchen — kneading bread, stirring soup, or brushing melted butter onto cinnamon rolls. (Some of our favorite recipes involve lots of butter!) My husband Joe loves to cook, too, and has a well-earned reputation for fabulous dinners and appetizer parties. All in all, we’re a family that loves to eat and entertain. I look forward to sharing our adventures in cooking and baking with you!
