Using canned flavored tomatoes adds a convenient twist to this tomato soup recipe.

(14 1/2-ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano |

Melt butter in 4-quart saucepan until sizzling; add onion. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion is softened (2 to 3 minutes). Stir in flour, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Add tomato juice, diced tomatoes and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil (8 to 10 minutes).
Slowly stir in milk; continue cooking until heated through (3 to 4 minutes). Serve immediately.
