Chocolate truffle cookies with a burst of citrus flavor will give you a "melt-in-your-mouth" experience with this gem of a cookie.
Heat oven to 375°F. Combine butter and powdered sugar in large bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Add cocoa, orange zest and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour and salt; beat at low speed until well mixed. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 9-12 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool completely.
Place 1 cup chocolate chips and shortening in small bowl. Microwave 1 minute; stir. Continue microwaving 30 seconds or until almost melted. Stir until smooth. Place cookies on waxed paper or cooling rack; drizzle melted chocolate over cookies. Let stand until set.

These were the first cookies I ever made for a Christmas cookie exchange. They won best cookie! Easy to make and yummy. Basically, chocolate shortbread with a hint of orange. Tip: to help the cookies keep their round shape and not flatten, put the balls in the fridge to harden up before baking - they will hold their shape better. My yield was 4 dozen 1" balls, or 3 dozen 1.5 - 2" balls.
These cookies were very dry and crumbly, I followed the recipe exact so not sure if they are suppose to be dry or not.
These cookies were a real hit! I made up a cookie gift box and the friends and family I gave them to just loved them. Simply delicious!
These are one of my new favorites. They really are easy. Whenever there's a party, I bring these and they're gone in minutes. Sometimes I add 1/4 tsp orange extract to the chocolate topping for an extra punch.
Love this cookie. Easy to make. The hint of orange in the flavor is so good.
These are absolutely delicious! Easy to make and add a nice variety of shape to my Christmas cookie plate gifts.
