A tomato sauce recipe made with tomatoes, fresh basil and garlic is simmered, seasoned with butter and perfect to serve over your choice of pasta.
Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan until sizzling; add onion and garlic. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 3-4 minutes or until onion is softened.
Add tomatoes, tomato paste, 2 tablespoons basil and salt; continue cooking 1-2 minute or suntil mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium. Cook, stirring occasionally, 10-12 minutes or until tomatoes are softened.
Remove from heat; stir in remaining basil.
Spoon sauce over hot cooked linguine, angel hair (capellini) pasta or fettuccine.
*Substitute 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves.

This was yummy. I also added a touch of sugar and red pepper flakes. If my tomatoes keep doing well. I plan on canning this. Next time I'm adding mushrooms
I added a touch of sugar and some crushed red pepper to this recipe. My whole family loved it!
Great use of fresh, home grown summer tomatoes, delicious. I added just a touch of sugar to the sauce.
