Truffle Topped Brownie Tart

A dessert for true chocolate lovers—a walnut brownie with a chocolate truffle topping.

Ingredients

Brownies

1 (13.5-ounce) package walnut brownie mix
1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, melted
3 tablespoons water

Topping

2/3 cup real semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup whipping cream
3 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
2 tablespoons almond liqueur or 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Directions

Heat oven to 350°F. Combine all brownie ingredients in medium bowl until moistened. Spread into ungreased 9-inch springform pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until set. Cool completely. Remove sides of springform pan.

Combine chocolate chips, whipping cream and 3 tablespoons butter in 2-quart heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate melts. Beat egg yolk in small bowl. Stir about half of chocolate mixture into egg yolk. Return egg mixture to saucepan. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, just until mixture comes to a boil (1 to 2 minutes). Remove from heat.

Pour chocolate mixture into small bowl; stir in almond liqueur. Refrigerate, stirring occasionally, until completely cooled (1 1/2 to 2 hours). Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Spoon or pipe topping onto brownie. Serve immediately or loosely cover and refrigerate up to 24 hours.

To serve, cut into wedges.

Recipe Tip

To cut through the truffle topping more easily, dip the knife in water before each cut. This keeps the truffle topping from sticking to the knife.
