Russian tea cake cookies filled with pecans and coated with powdered sugar will melt in your mouth!

These were a huge hit with my family, who appreciated that they're not overly sweet. Since I've also seen these called Mexican wedding cookies, I served them as a dessert to go with a Tex-Mex dinner.These will have a nice almond taste if you substitute almond extract for half the vanilla, and crushed almonds for the walnuts.
My aunt called these "pecan sandies", being from the South. She also altered the recipe to include 2 teaspoon of water.and doubled the vanilla and 1/3 cup of sugar. I think hers was less flaky. I made mine using LOL recipe and ended up making 2 batches since they disappeared as soon as I got them covered with powdered sugar. A friend of mine only makes them during the holidays, but they are so easy and delicious I am making them for Valentines, maybe try to roll them in cocoa powder instead?
These can be made NUT FREE. Oldest child has a peanut and multiple tree nut allergy. I substituted crushed vanilla wafers for the nuts. My whole family loved them.
I think this recipe changed from last year. Instead of using regular sugar in the cookie recipe, it's better with powdered sugar.
These are melt in your mouth cookies. Everyone loves them and are the first cookies to go.
i make these cookies in honor of my grandmother who loved them so much. i would always make at least 1 batch just for her. she cherished that.

These cookies were simply phenomenal. I made these, along with several other types of cookies, to give as a personal Christmas gift to friends this year. I've been getting raves from those who received these cookies! I actually just emailed the recipe to my good friend who received these as part of my gift to her. She loved them too! Try these and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed!

I made these little snowballs in the 100 degrees summer - just to remind me of winter and the Holidays to come - These are very tender and melt in your mouth! I was really glad too because the ones we had around the Holidays when I was a kid were hard as a rock... really! This is a terrific recipe! Will only use this recipe for my snowballs from now on - It's a Keeper!
