Chocolate chip cookies from a winning recipe. Bake up a big batch of these classic chocolate chip cookies.
Heat oven to 375°F.
Combine butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla in bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; beat at low speed until well mixed. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet; remove to cooling rack.

I use this recipe for our Open House/Customer Appreciation every year. People rave about these cookies! There are never any left:) it is definitely a 5 star recipe! They are best using Land o Lakes though. My friend made them with store brand butter and she said they were not like mine. Also, sometimes people will blame the recipe when the issue is actually the mixing method or the oven.This recipe has never disappointed me, and I've been baking for over sixty years.

I was looking for a chocolate chip cookie recipe that wasn't toll house, so I came across this recipe on the land o lakes box and just had to try it for a function at work. what I liked was the fact that it was such a large recipe 4 cups of flour. I thought perfect no need to double the recipe. Well they turned out to be the best chocolate recipe I ever tried.. this will be my go to recipe from now on. i think the land o lakes butter makes a big difference

Oh my gosh, these are delicious! I can't wait to try the variations. My suggestion is to mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl and then add gradually to butter/sugar mixture. You may have use your hands to mix the chocolate chips in and you definitely never want to overmix cookie dough; you may end up with tough cookies. I don't understand why some reviewers complained that this dough was dry; I thought it was perfect. Again, try using your hands to mix it, kneading it a little like bread dough. It will come together!

I have tried many, many recipes and this is by FAR the best! Everytime I make some, someone compliments me and asks for the recipe. I've made with choco chips and toffee bits....I've also subbed in oatmeal for part of flour...people love those!
I'm an old homemaker who has been baking for over 50 years and have found the best recipes are those printed on the Land O' Lakes butter package. Tonight, I tried the chocolate chip cookie recipe and it won "hands over" my own favorite recipe. The hints and photos regarding the recipe were extremely helpful, even for an old baker. This was the worst chocolate chip cookie recipe I've ever tried. I followed the recipe to a T.My cookies came out thick , cakey and pale. I would've been better off buying premade cookie dough.
I mix half with pecans and semi- sweet chips , and the other half with chopped macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips . They turn out awesome ! I do push them down a bit if using a cookie scoop .

Clearly, I did something wrong! The dough never came together; it was very dry. And the cookies were undercooked, even though my toothpick came out clean when i tested them. $$ ingredients with disappointing results. I'll give them one more try and then it's back to toll house. Can't figure out my mistake. :(
I made these cookies taste great.. My husband can't have real butter, I made them with Land o Lakes margarine. They were still wonderful. Just like the package said on the margarine, not having water in it, makes a big difference.

These were better than amazing. I've been looking for the perfect chocolate chip cookie and I truly believe this is it. Halved the recipe when I saw 48 cookies, I wanted to make sure I liked them before I made dozens of cookies. Cooked for 9 min. Looks like its undercooked but when it hardens its perfect. This is the best recipe I have ever used for Chocolate chip cookies. I did substitute 1 cup of oatmeal for 1 cup of flour as suggested in the recipe with outstanding results.

I love this recipe but I always double it & omit 1/4 cup white sugar & sub 1/4 brown sugar. I also used half butter half shortening butter flavor turns out wonderful.

Best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever. Followed the directions exactly and they came out perfectly. This recipe makes A LOT of cookies. They look perfect. So much better than toll house recipe. Don't be worried about the amount of flour. Just spoon it into measuring cup and level with a knife. The dough is not at all like toll house, which is kind of sticky. This dough is definitely stiffer but trust me it works.
My husband and kids loved these cookies! Chocolatey melty gooey goodness will make again.
I halved the recipe, added 1 cup of pecans (chopped) and the cookies turned out delicious. With half of the recipe, I got 4 dozen medium cookies. This recipe is so good. I used to have a favorite chocolate chip cookies recipe but it required the dough to be refrigerated before shaping and baking, so now I prefer this recipe, which is easier. The cookies are great to eat and to gift too, please bake them. Many thanks.

Why do people post a review of a recipe if they don't make the recipe as it appears??? Everyone makes changes and says they like it or don't like it, but they aren't making THE recipe shown !! What's the point!
Loved this recipe, I made mine with milk chocolate chips and added 1 extra teaspoon vanilla and only added 4 cups of flour. It was a drier mix of cookie then I was use too, but the cookies came out moist and oh so buttery yummy. I've tried several different recipes and this one is by far my favorite!
I have been baking for over 30 years and this was the best recipe I've ever used, blows Toll House away. They were not dry and there is plenty of liquid if done properly and not overbaked. They are crunchy on the edges and soft and gooey in the center. I underbaked them by a few minutes because that is how I like them. I've used this recipe at least 10 times so far and its been consistantly aweome.
These were Great cookies with a couple changes. Only 4 cups of flour and 2 TBS of vanilla and I refrigerated the dough for 12 hours. Once out of the refrigerator I let warm for 30 minutes and then started to make the cookies. The mixture is too dry when you first mix together so letting it hydrate worked well.
This was the worst recipe I have ever tried. Cookies were dry and hard. I am a Pastry Chef and I have never had a cookie that came out this bad!!!!! Not enough liquid to the formula to make the cookie soft.
I cut the recipe in half not wanting to be baking all night. They turned out so good I wish I had made the whole batch. I put 1/2 chocolate chips and 1/2 peanut butter chips in. Also used a 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Yummy
I am always in search of a good chocolate chip recipe, and when I saw the picture in you ad, i had to try the recipe. I love crisp cookies and was not disappointed. They were very good. I brought some cookies to work for testing purposes, of course, and, they were enjoyed by all. I was the only one who thought they might be a little sweet. I did try the recipe as written and then made it with the pecans and toffee pieces as suggeted. I feel I know my oven well and they did take longer to cook then the recipe said and they made more than the 4/1/2 dozen the recipes indicates. (Not that there were any complaints. I'll keep this in my collection, it won't replace the crisp recipe I use when I make cookies and yes I use Land O' Lakes Butter when baking them. I am still in search of a recipe for the greatest chocolate cookies. Thank you for web site, I saw a few more recipes that I will be trying.
These are perfect. I tried so many cookie recipes before and finally found what I was looking for. I wasn't sure how it was gonna be so I halved the recipe and I also did some minor changes, I didn't had any brown sugar left so I used white sugar + 1 tsp honey and I used 2/3 cup whole wheat flour + 6/3 cup all purpose flour and I also added a few spoon of peanut butter. Cookies came out amazing. From now on, this is my go to recipe for chocolate chip cookies.
Great recipe. I used bread flour to make these and they turned out really good. They were a bit more cakey and they were more fluffy since they didn't expand outward, but rather rose up a lot. Great recipe, and one that I will make again.
This is by far the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have ever made. I make mine a little smaller, use 1 cup of mini chocolate chips, and 1 cup of finely chopped walnuts - they are a huge hit and always requested!
This is the best chocolate chip cookies recipe. I have been making it for years to rave reviews, although I have made a few minor chages. I use 3 eggs, 3 1/2 c. all purpose flour, and 1 cup baking flour (from the recipe in a LoL book with a little extra flour for the extra egg), 2 T. vanilla, and a pinch of salt for added flavor. Sometimes I heat the butter and sugars first on the stove to carmelize them and, as an added bonus, make it easier to mix. Variation: You could use kahlua instead of vanilla, white chips instead of chocolate and add macadamia nuts for white chocolate macadamia nut cookies.
The recipe is easy and the cookies are oh so yummy. I was hoping these would stay softer than they do, but we'll enjoy them anyway!

I followed the recipe, mostly. Added 2T milk to the batter, and reduced the flour by 1/2c. Used a medium scoop to measure cookie dough onto sheets. A good tasting cookie. Looked nothing like the picture because they didn't flatten out as much as I wanted them too. Under-baked them by 2 minutes to produce a soft chewy cookie. All in all, is a good cookie recipe, but not the best one. My search continues ...

I opted for the Chocolate Chip Bars variation. Cooking time is spot on, 30 minutes and they came out perfect. The recipe is fabulous, I followed it to a T. I was hesitant to use the 4 1/2 cups of flour because I thought that they would be too dry, wrong, they were perfect.Fantastic recipe!
This recipe is fabulous. I did reduce the amount of the flour to 3 1/2 cups which worked well. I made the cookies smaller so I had 6 dozen...enough to share with my grandchildren!

The recipe is O.K.. Cookie texture is very good/ excellent, but the flavor is a bit mild for my taste. Perrhaps dark brown sugar and a tablespoon of molasses would lend more flavor. Also, since no salt is used, make sure you use salted butter.
I made these for my watercolor society meeting, they are fast and simple. I like baking them longer to get a nice, golden color, however, I think my family prefers them softer. I told them to dip it in milk...
The cookies were very good but definitely cakey. I had to add another egg to the recipe because 2 eggs is not enough for 4 1/4 cups of flour. I also did not use as much flour and they came out quite nice.

Last week I didn't have time to make regular cookies so I made these as bar cookies. I included a cup of chopped pecans and they turned out great! These are rich cookies with lots of chocolate flavor.

I gave this a four star, but the kids wanted a 5 star..Kids loved these. I thought they were better a little under cooked. We live at a altitude of 5600 ft. and I always have problems with choco chip cookie recipes. These were pretty good, the dough was a tad dry so I added a tbs. milk. Would love to see high altitude instructions with the recipes. Thanks.
i decided to bake these cookies for my husband to take to work. it was such a winner everyone told him how wonderful they were. these are really good and chewy.

I have made this several times now and each time I get rave reviews! Everybody loves this cookie. Best yet, it comes out chewy and soft and pulls apart with the chocolate strings in the middle. The best chocolate cookie recipe ever!
