I made this for Thanksgiving dinner and it's definately a "keeper" recipe. Very delicious.
I grew up in Kentucky and this was called "Derby Pie"...the only pecan pie loaded with chocolate chips. Unfortunately, I never got the recipe from my Granny before she died. So imagine my surprise when I scrolled and saw this recipe! It's SUPER easy to make and such a rich dessert that it needs nothing else. It totally compliments turkey and is the perfect ending to a holiday or evening with friends! Thanks for re-introducing my family and me to an old southern comfort!
I have made it with and without the chocolate chips. Both are awesome! If going with the chocolate chips I strongly recommend using the mini-chocolate chips.
This is a fantastic recipe for Chocolate pie.One can enhance it if you wish in many ways.I made 10 pies for a party and each one was a bit different.I added 1 teaspoon of Espresso coffee (dried) to one and it was marvelous. Deep rich flavor. Raspberry liquor to others, Creme de mint to others. I could go on but you get the idea if you want to experiment.This is just wonderful and very decadent.Have a good time with the one.
