Ingredients

Crust

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest

Filling

3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut
1/3 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
Powdered sugar

Directions

Heat oven to 350°F. Combine 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon orange zest in large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press onto bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 20-22 minutes or until light golden brown.

Meanwhile, combine all filling ingredients except coconut, hazelnuts and powdered sugar in large bowl; mix well. Stir in coconut.

Pour over hot, partially baked crust. Sprinkle with hazelnuts. Bake 20-25 minutes or until center is set. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Recipe Tip

Hazelnuts, also called filberts, are sold with the brown outer skin removed or with it still on the nut. Since the skin has a bitter flavor, look for nuts that already have the skin removed. If you purchase hazelnuts that still have a skin, bake them at 350°F. 10-15 minutes or until the skins begin to flake. Place the warm nuts, a handful at a time, in a clean dish towel and rub to remove most of the skin.
