2 cups creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Margarine, softened
1/2 cup real semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups powdered sugar
3 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 teaspoon shortening
Sliced almonds
Chow mein noodles

Combine peanut butter and margarine in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Reduce speed to low; add powdered sugar. Beat until well mixed. Stir in graham cracker crumbs.

Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1 1/2-inch ovals. Place onto waxed paper-lined cookie sheets.

Combine chocolate chips and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH (100% power) for 30 seconds; stir.Continue microwaving, stirring every 10 seconds, until mixture is melted and smooth (10 to 30 seconds). Cool slightly.

Place chocolate in small plastic resealable food bag. Cut very small tip from one corner of bag.

For each honey bee, pipe 3 chocolate stripes on each oval; insert 2 almond slices in each side for wings. Insert 2 chow mein noodles in head for antenna; insert 1 short chow mein noodle for tail. Dot with chocolate for eyes, if desired.

Refrigerate until firm (at least 30 minutes). Store refrigerated.

Recipe Tip

- Substitute disposable pastry bag for plastic resealable food bag.

- If dough is too soft, stir in additional powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency.

Recipe Comments & Reviews

This was a very fun recipe to make and decorate. The peanut butter honey bees are delicious and a very sweet treat!
Very cute, but not easy to make look like this. When the peanut butter bodies were firm enough to mold, they were too firm to insert the almonds or noodles without the body crumbling or the other parts breaking. Next time I would suggest molding the bodies first, then warm slightly to soften before decorating, then chill before serving.
