Chocolate candy bar nuggets make a rich and creamy filling for these fudgy thumbprints.

They definitely have possibilities, but the cookie base is a little dull, needs something--maybe a little salt or a little more sugar. My tip: using the tip of a wooden skewer is a much neater and easier way to spread the soft chocolate candies. Using the back of a spoon, as recommended, makes a real mess.
I made these for my annual Christmas cookie trays. My husband loved them, but he was the only one. Other people who tried them, as well as myself, just didn't care for these. It tastes to me like the 2 chocolates just don't go together very well. While I thoroughly enjoyed other cookie recipes from Land O Lakes over the holdiays, I won't be making this particular one again.
This recipe is pretty good. The only thing that I did different was to roll the cookie dough balls in sugar before I baked. Made them less bitter. If you like the taste of cocoa these cookies are for you! Very easy though!
Cookies were delicious. I ended up with only 4 dozen but I'm sure it's because I made the cookie "balls" bigger than 1 inch. After having success the first time. I may try to adjust it and add maybe a half of cherry under the chocolate candy middle or try a different type of chocolate nugget.
