3/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup instant milk chocolate hot cocoa mix
1 teaspoon baking soda
24 large marshmallows, cut in half crosswise*

1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
6 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

Heat oven to 350°F. Combine 3/4 cup butter and sugar in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add eggs, 1/4 cup milk and vanilla. Continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour, cocoa mix and baking soda. Beat until well mixed.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes or until set. Remove from oven; top each cookie with marshmallow half, cut-side down. Continue baking for 1 to 2 minutes until marshmallow just begins to puff. Immediately remove cookies to cooling racks. Cool completely.

Meanwhile, place powdered sugar into medium bowl; set aside. Combine all remaining glaze ingredients in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat; cool 5 minutes. Pour mixture over powdered sugar in bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy.

Immediately spoon glaze over cooled cookies. Store between sheets of waxed paper in a loosely covered container.

*Substitute 48 holiday-shaped marshmallow. Do not cut in half.

Recipe Tip

- Cool and clean cookie sheets between batches. The cookies may stick slightly to the sheet.

- If glaze gets too thick to drizzle, beat in 1 additional teaspoon of milk.

Recipe Comments & Reviews

These cookies are a holiday favorite. For those who have made them and had them turn out poorly I suggest making sure you're using fresh and good quality hot cocoa mix. I made a batch one year with old cocoa mix and it effected the quality of the cookie.

This receipe is a huge hit at family functions but takes hours and hours to do it. This year I tried to double it and it was an unqualified disaster. Make exactly as states or with a bit more cocoa and flour to thicken the dough.
possibly the worst cookie ever! it taste disgusting and dosent even bake correctly. very dissapointed.
the cookie mix melted in the oven and covered the entire pan

We re-tested the recipe and did not have the cookie batter melt over the pan. I suggest that if the cookie melts during baking you might want to add some additional flour so the dough would be firmer.

i made this recipie trying to use up extra hot chocolate mix, i have made one batch and so far so good, im going to try mint next..
This is one of our favorite recipes! Scrumptious! An absolute favorite! Wouldn't be Christmas with out them!!!
I tried these cookies for our annual Cookie exchange & they went over well.
I was disappointed with this cookie. It was not fun to make and it was time consuming.
I thought it would have been very chocolatey, but it was rather boring! I was expecting a great combination of flavorings.
Sorry Land O Lakes, I was not impressed with this recipe. I am still a loyal fan!!
The flavor was bland. Even my kids did not like them. They came out flat, and even on parchment paper, they stuck. These were a miserable failure.
These cookies are soooo good! They won me the "best cookie" at a Cookie Swap this year. I also brought them into work and everyone loved them. I did have to up the amount of powdered sugar in the icing so it would thicken a little more. Otherwise they are great!!
I knew the recipe would be time consuming, but I didn't expect the goodies to be consumed as fast as they were eaten. Tastes just like cocoa, hard to eat just one. I even made my own cocoa mix so I have plenty on hand to make more of these goodies.
