Almond paste and sliced almonds combine for a dense cake similar to a traditional Scandinavian favorite.

The sour cherry sauce is the perfect compliment to the almond cake. It makes a delicious combination! I am giving it four stars because my cake fell & the texture was crumbly; however, it is delicious enough to try it again to see if I can improve my technique to perfect the the cake. I would recommend this to anyone who loves tart cherries!
I made this for my husband on Valentine's Day.He loves almonds and cherries so this was a huge hit. The cake has a wonderful almond flavor and texture. The cherries were a perfect topping and looked really festive for the occasion. I will being making this again and again.
