Molasses Ginger Cookies

These spiced cookies are flavored with molasses.

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
3/4 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened
1/2 cup firmly packed C & H® Golden Brown Sugar
6 tablespoons mild molasses
1 egg
1/2 cup C & H® Pure Cane Sugar


Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, salt, allspice and pepper in medium bowl; set aside.

Combine butter and brown sugar in large bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Add molasses and egg; continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; gradually add flour mixture, beating until just combined. Wrap dough in plastic food wrap; freeze until firm (20 minutes).

Heat oven to 350°F. Place sugar into small bowl. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar. Place onto cookie sheets lined with parchment paper. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

I was frankly disappointed. They just aren't sweet and buttery enough. Mainly they lack in sweetness. Surprising as this is the first Land O Lakes recipe that I haven't adored.
