Becky has spent her entire career cooking and baking, which are also her favorite hobbies outside of work. For her, time spent in the kitchen not only relieves stress, but is lots of fun as well. Becky’s love for baking began as a child, standing on a chair next her mom, adding ingredients and mixing up dough.
Slow cooker chicken chowder that is flavorful, hearty and easy.
Combine all chowder ingredients except half & half, cornstarch and cream cheese in 5-quart slow cooker. Cover; cook on Low heat setting 6 to-8 hours, or High heat setting 4-5 hours or until potatoes are tender.
During the last cooking hour, combine half & half and cornstarch in small bowl until smooth; gradually stir into chicken mixture. Cover; cook on High heat setting until mixture is thickened.
Meanwhile, melt butter in 1-quart saucepan until sizzling; add bread crumbs. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside.
Just before serving, stir cream cheese into chowder until melted. To serve, sprinkle each serving with 1 tablespoon topping.

What a wonderful recipe and even on my diet I can have it.
Quite expensive for the cost of all the ingredients and disappointing in taste. It lacked something.
Halved the recipe for just my husband and I. Used herbes de provence instead of the marjoram and thyme, and normal cream cheese instead of the flavored one called for in the recipe. Tasted good--we'll definitely make it again.
My husband and I enjoyed this chowder very much. I used corn instead of mixed veggies this time around and it was good. I might try something else next time. Great with a piece of fresh french or italian bread!
I added a dash of alspice; otherwise followed recipe. Tastes better the next day!
My husband and I really enjoyed this hearty soup on a cold winter's evening. I must say that we thought there were too many potatoes! Next time I make it, I will probably do four instead of eight. Excellent with sourdough bread!
We loved this chowder, and I will definitely be making it again. I did make a small change to the recipe, though - I halved the cream cheese because I hate cream cheese! It was still very creamy and I will do the same thing next time.
Great tasting and super hearty. I sent it to deer hunting camp and got rave reviews from all.
