Ingredients

Cupcakes

1 (15.25- to 16.5-ounce) package butter recipe yellow cake mix

Water as directed on package

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

3 large Land O Lakes® Eggs

Frosting

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

Orange food color  

Decorations

Green licorice twists

Black licorice twists and strings

Circus peanut candy

Candy corn

Decorator sugars, if desired

 *Substitute red and yellow food color to create orange.

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F. Place paper baking cups into 24 muffin pan cups; set aside.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine all cupcake ingredients in bowl; beat according to package directions. Fill each prepared muffin cup 2/3 full. Bake 17-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

  3. STEP 3

    Combine all frosting ingredients except food color in bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Tint frosting with food color; beat until well mixed.

  4. STEP 4

    Place 23 cupcakes very close together onto 12- or 13-inch round serving plate or pizza pan with rim; place 1 cupcake slightly above the circle to form stem. Frost over cupcakes and spaces between to create 1 large circle; pipe frosting around edge, if desired. Decorate as desired with candy to form stem and jack-o’-lantern face.

  5. STEP 5

    Cover tightly; refrigerate until serving time.

Tip #1

- Fill each cupcake liner with equal amount of batter so that all the cupcakes are the same size.
