Joylnn, most supermarkets & grocery stores don't carry a wide selection of baking goods.. I usually have to go to a craft store like Joanns, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby to find what I need. Good luck!
I followed this recipe exact. I was disappointed though because I had to use another cake mix to make another layer for the brim of the hat. The recipe called for the remaining batter which was not enough and I used a 13" round sheet as called for.I did use 3 cups of batter for the bowl.I bought regular size waffle cones to make the point of the hat but maybe the jumbo cones would have been better. Also, I could not find black sugar crystals anywhere so I had to use a can of black icing which was not enough for the cake and very difficult to spread over the frosting. After using the icing I realized it was a waste to make the frosting. It did not look as perfect in the picture but was ok.I will try to make this again.
