These oatmeal brownie bars combine crunchy oatmeal layers with a fudgy brownie layer!
Heat oven to 350°F.
Combine all oatmeal layer ingredients in bowl except butter. Cut in 2/3 cup butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 1/4 cups crumb mixture for topping. Press remaining crumbs into greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 10 minutes.
Combine 1/3 cup butter and chocolate in bowl. Microwave, stirring twice, 30-60 seconds or until chocolate is melted. Cool slightly.
Combine sugar, eggs, water and vanilla in bowl; beat at medium speed until well mixed. Add melted chocolate mixture; continue beating until well mixed. Add 1 cup flour and baking powder; beat at low speed until well mixed.
Drop chocolate mixture by tablespoonfuls over warm, partially baked crust. Carefully spread brownie layer evenly over crust; top with reserved crumb mixture.
Bake 15-18 minutes or until edges are set. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely; cut into bars.

I didn't grease the pan ~ big oops! They were impossible to get out, but they were yummy! It is hard to judge when they are cooked enough. A tad sweet too, but SO good! I'll definitely make again.
I made these for an office lunch meeting and received rave reviews. They're easy to make and taste great. The brownie center is an added bonus!Just for the record, you can NEVER have too much buttery taste - as long as it's REAL butter!
I thought there was way too much butter in this recipe. We could barely taste the chocolate layer because it was over-taken by the taste of butter.
I had a craving for chocolate bars, and this hit the spot! Very rich and chewy, I will definetly make these again
I've made this time and time again and it's a big hit. Even sent a batch to hubby's office and they loved it too!
Just made this , and they were a huge hit at my office. I also sent them to my son in a college care package, and they mailed beautifully.
Took this into work - and people found ways to stop by my desk all day. Also, keeps well for about a week. Just pop them in the microwave to soften them up.
The recipe was tasty, but I thought it was high in calories for the small peice. I did need to bake it an additional 15 minutes than what the recipe called for. The buttery taste of the oatmeal crust was good, and the brownie center was a nice surprise. I'd make these again for a special occasion.
I followed the instructions, but thought the brownie part was underdone, so we just ate the edges. But I will try this one again because they were very good. I thought the flavor reminded me of E.L. Fudge cookies, so if you like those, you'd like these.
This dessert was so chocolaty and gooey, it is very hard to resist! I'll definitely be making it again for friends and family.
I made this recipe after reading Becky's blog in July. My family LOVED them! These bars are quick to make and, believe me, I will be making them many times in the weeks ahead!
When I made these I neglected to write down the eggs so I ended up making them without eggs adding more water to get the consistency I needed.Even without the eggs, these were very, very good. They're easy to make, quick to bake and very tasty. The center was nice and fudgy. The edges weren't hard but soft and chewy. When I make them again, and I will surely make them again, I won't add eggs and just do the extra water. I really didn't miss them at all.For the record, the reason I accidently omitted writing down the eggs is a fault with the website. Because the words, "2 LAND O LAKES® All-Natural Eggs" are a link, and the colour is a light and 'eggs' is the last word, my eyes just ignored that line somehow. I didn't even realise I'd erroneously omitted them until I looked at the post on the buzz blog.Anyway, these definitely have found a place in my recipe box.
The oatmeal crust makes it very good

We recently developed a recipe for a Yule Log Cake for our 2014 Holiday Brochure. In my family, our holiday traditions revolved around cut-out cookies; a Yule Log was never part of the mix. So I was intrigued and did a little bit of research to see what this was all about.
