Holiday Ornament Cupcakes
Colorful ornaments cupcakes brighten up any day during the season just as they do on a Christmas tree.
1 (18.25-ounce) package white cake mix
2 tablespoons red, green and/or white decorator sprinkles*
5 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
String licorice, cut into 1-inch pieces
Fruit chews and leathers, decorator candies, string licorice and/or mini candy-coated chocolate pieces
Heat oven to 350°F. Place paper baking cups into 24 muffin pan cups; set aside.
Combine all cupcake ingredients in large bowl except sprinkles; beat at medium speed until well mixed. Stir in sprinkles.
Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups. Bake 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.
Combine powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter and vanilla in medium bowl; beat at medium speed, adding enough half & half for desired spreading consistency.
To create ornament hangers, cut a small slice in top of each gumdrop with small knife. Insert both ends of 1-inch licorice piece into each slice. Set aside.
Frost each cupcake; place 1 ornament hanger on top of each cupcake. Decorate as desired.

- For size variety, make 18 regular-size cupcakes and 12 mini cupcakes. Bake mini cupcakes 15 to 17 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cut strips of fruit leather with decorative or regular scissors and place onto cupcake. Top with small candies, using frosting as “glue” for fruit strip and candies.
