This snack mix recipe is both sweet and salty! The praline-like coating covers the salty nuts and crisp cereal for an irresistible combination.
Heat oven to 375°F. Spray large roasting pan with no-stick cooking spray.
Combine corn snacks, cereal, pretzels and pecans in prepared pan; set aside.
Combine brown sugar, butter, corn syrup and salt in 2-quart heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a full boil. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour syrup mixture over cereal mixture in pan; toss to coat.
Bake 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, or until coating is set. Remove from oven; stir.
Spread mixture onto waxed paper. Cool 5 minutes; stir in chocolate pieces. Cool completely; break into pieces.
Store in container with tight-fitting lid for up to 1 week.

Love this recipe made exactly as write - I made 15 batch's to sale at a company Bake Sale to raise money for a Breast Cancer walk I am doing in October 2015 - I sold out everyone loved it and wanted the recipe I told them to check out Lands of Lake website. With your help I am well on my way to raising a $1000. Thank you! (FYI - I did try the recipe with corn and rice cereals - for example I used 2 cups wheat, 1 cup rice and 1 cup corn to equal the 4 cups in the recipe)
Very good! I added 1 1/2 tsp each of chipotle and chili powder for a little kick. I would have given 5 stars, but the cooking time was a little too long or the temp too high. Some pieces tasted a little burned. I checked my oven and the temp is accurate. Next time maybe I will try it at 350.
Very tasty. Prepared for lock-in event. Oven temp seemed a little high; few of the pieces burned, even directions were followed to stir every 5 min. Lowered temp by 50 degrees for final 5 min. of baking. Will make again.
I made this last year and lost the recipe. So glad I found it again. I use a variety of cereals corn,rice,oats 1 cup each. It is so good it's hard to stop eating. Makes good travel snacks. And with the nuts you are getting protein for energy.
I just made this and it's almost gone already! I replaced the "cone-shaped baked corn snacks" with different type nuts (walnuts, cashews, and almonds) so I ended up with 4 kinds of nuts. Very yummy. The coating is the same as I use to make caramel corn. I like that it's not a real sticky coating because I hate when something sticks in my teeth. I will be making this many times, I'm sure.
I made this very tasty snack mix for a new year's eve party and it disappeared in no time! Will definitely make it again!
We decided to try a different snack mix for Christmas and this is very good! I would def make it again. The only thing we did different is decide to not use the wheat cereal. You wouldn't even know it was missing.

I made this for my family and they loved it. They loved it so much I have made it 2 more times in the last 2 weeks. I must admit I tweaked it a little and used cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice and a little ground cloves to make it more fall and Thanksgiving like.. Please Try It :
I used small tortilla corn chips and walnuts. Served it to my family this Thanksgiving. They all loved it--one said it was the best snack mix they had ever tasted!
