Eggnog Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodles with the surprising flavor of eggnog are a new twist on a holiday favorite.

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon brandy extract
1/2 teaspoon rum extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

Sugar Mixture

1/4 cup sugar or decorator sugar
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg


Heat oven to 400°F.

Combine all cookie ingredients in bowl. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.

Stir together 1/4 cup sugar and nutmeg in bowl. Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Did't have the brandy or rum extract so used the "real" stuff. I also rolled in colored sugar for grandkids.
My family loves this recipe. I was not able to find brandy extract so I used brandy instead. So yummy and delicious.
I have made these for about 20 years. I roll mine in a combination of white and colored sugar so they look more festive
i couldn't find extract of brandy, so i doubled up on the extract of rum. i also added a little cinnamon to the sugar mixture (didn't seem like they'd be snickerdoodles without the cinnamon).
These are Christmas favorites for my family...taste delicious and it wouldn't be Christmas without them.
I used this recipe last year for Christmas. My boyfriend doesn't even like cookies but everytime I turned around, he stole one of these! Fantastic cookie.

Been making these for years-really about 25! They were in the first Land O Lakes Cookie book I got for sending in end flaps!
