Ingredients

Scones

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons freshly grated orange zest
1/2 cup raisins
4 to 6 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Half & Half

Orange Butter

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
2 tablespoons orange marmalade

Directions

Heat oven to 400°F. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and orange zest in medium bowl; cut in 1/3 cup butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in raisins, 1 egg and enough half & half just until moistened.

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead 10 times. Roll into 9-inch circle; cut into 12 wedges.

Place wedges 1 inch apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from baking sheet.

Meanwhile, stir together 1/2 cup butter and orange marmalade in small bowl; serve with warm scones.

I love this recipe ! I have used it many times and have had great results!
The recipe calls for more liquid that is indicated, and the cook time is longer, but these are divine. They are fluffy and tender. Will make again.
I have been making these scones since they first appeared on a Land o Lakes butter box many years ago. They are just wonderful - flakey and tender, and even better with the orange butter. Thanks for keeping this on your website. My recipe - on the original box - is wearing out and hard to tell the amounts.
I made these scones twice. The first time I followed the recipe exactly. The only things I did differently the second time were: (1) I combined the dry ingredients and the butter by hand; (2) I chopped the raisins some; and, (3) I had orange peel left over from the first time, which dried, of course, and I used that. It helped, in my opinion, to enhance the orange flavor. Excellent recipe. Oh, and the second time, for some reason, the scones were a tad more moist than the first time. Thank you LoL!
