Triple Almond Torte

This dessert is laced with the flavor of almonds throughout.

Ingredients

Pastry

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
2 teaspoons water

Filling

1 1/2 cups finely chopped almonds
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly grated lemon peel
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup almond liqueur*

Garnish

Toasted sliced almonds, if desired
Powdered sugar, if desired

Directions

Heat oven to 375°F. Place flour in medium bowl; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in sugar, egg yolk and water until well mixed. Press onto bottom and 1-inch up sides of ungreased 9-inch springform pan.

Combine all filling ingredients except almond liqueur in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Pour filling into crust; sprinkle with almond liqueur. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until center is set and golden brown. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan.

To serve, garnish with sliced almonds and powdered sugar, if desired. Serve warm with whipped cream, if desired.

*Substitute 3 tablespoons water and 1 teaspoon almond extract
