Orange Molasses Cookies

Tangy orange flavor mingles with molasses in this soft, old fashioned drop cookie.

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened
1/4 cup light molasses
1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 cup golden raisins


Heat oven to 375°F. Combine sugar, butter, molasses, egg, orange zest and orange juice in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour, baking soda and ginger. Beat until well mixed. Stir in raisins.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.

These cookies are surprisingly good. Lots of comments received from folks at the office.
Uniquely delicious cookie! All my friends remarked with pleasure upon the flavor, but none could guess the spice or the orange or molasses ingredients. This recipe definitely joins my select collection of The Cookie Lady's Favorites. I bake cookies every Saturday always using Land o' Lakes butter for friends and for the office. Everyone calls me The Cookie Lady. From my years of cookie-baking, I know that good-tasting butter is essential to good-tasting cookies and Land o' Lakes is just the best-tasting butter available.
