i try to make this recipe every holiday becouse all my coworkers love them
Truely, outstanding tasting cookie. Quite simple to make, though the directions imply a power mixer is necessary - I made a batch of these using a good wisk and a wooden spoon. The family loved it and I brought a dozen in to work to share. I was a bit lazy though I did not use the crushed peppermint candy sprinkes (I had the candy, I just did not crush it) the icing was good enough by itseff, I did use peppermint extract for the icing this might have been the balance needed.
An office co-worker made these with her children for Christmas season. She brought a plate of cookies in to the office after the holiday, only 1 of this receipe was present. I tried it and it was absolutely wonderful!!!
My kids made these cookies for Christmas and they were a big hit! Everyone loved them.
We've been making these cookies for over 20 years. Mom got booklet at the checkout line with this and another recipe we make every Yule season. Our recipe has you add the crushed candy to the frosting and make sandwich cookies out of them. Yum!

Caramel and cake. The subtle sweetness of the pound cake combined with the browned butter and toasty sugar flavor in the caramel sauce icing creates a dessert well worth the time to make it.
