This toffee candy is filled with almonds and covered with chocolate.

This is a family favorite! The original recipe called for whole blanched almonds so that is what I use. I also use dark chocolate candy melts because the chocolate chips tend to leave white streaks when it drys.
I made this for Christmas and it was a huge hit; we couldn't stop eating it. I added a little almond flavoring to mine, just because I like the flavor. Because I was in a hurry, I put the tray of toffee in the freezer for a few minutes to harden the chocolate after applying it to the candy. It would be just as good without the chocolate.
i make loads of this in november and december. i wrap it in pretty paper and put in boxes and on different china dishes i find during the year. it makes the best gifts. everyone i know ask me when i will be making more. it is a beautiful gift and everyone i know looks forward to receiving their holiday treat.
