These chocolate cherry bars combine two delicious dessert flavors to become an extra special treat.
Heat oven to 350°F.
Combine all crumb mixture ingredients in bowl. Beat at low speed until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups crumb mixture; press remaining crumb mixture oto bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 15-20 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned.
Combine all filling ingredients in same bowl. Spread filling over hot, partially baked crust; sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Continue baking 27-32 minutes or until lightly browned.
Melt chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring often, 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Drizzle over bars. Cool completely; cut into bars.

I love this recipe! I also make it with blueberries and use white almond bark for the drizzle! v
I've made this many times with blueberry pie filling and added chopped pecans to the crumb mixture. I forgot to put the chocolate drizzle on top the second time I made it and have made it that way ever since. Not too sweet. Everyone wants the recipe.
This was pretty good. Substituted half of the sugar with brown sugar which gave a shortbread taste. Yummy.

THIS IS A WONDERFULLY DIFFERENT RECIPE. I MADE IT FOR A FAMILY GATHERING AND GOT RAVE REVIEWS FOR IT. I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING ABOUT THIS RECIPE. IT'S VERY EASY TO MAKE, BUT TASTES LIKE YOU SPENT A LOT OF TIME MAKING IT. IT WOULD BE A GREAT HOLIDAY RECIPE.
