1 small (1/2 cup) onion, chopped
8 ounces lean ground beef
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup pizza sauce
1 (12-inch) prepared pizza crust, baked*
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
6 slices crisply cooked bacon, crumbled
Heat oven to 400°F.
Cook onion, ground beef and pepper in 8-inch skillet over medium-high heat 8-12 minutes or until meat is no longer pink. Drain off fat.
Add pizza sauce. Reduce heat to low. Cook 5 minutes.
Place baked pizza crust onto ungreased 12-inch pizza pan or baking sheet. Top crust with ground beef mixture, Cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese and bacon.
Bake 8-12 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with dill pickles.
* Use your favorite baked pizza crust. Suggested crusts: refrigerated pizza crust, frozen bread dough, pizza crust mixes, ready-to-eat bread shells.
Football Pizza: Form 1 (1-pound) loaf thawed frozen bread dough into 16x10x1/4-inch football shape. (Push dough gently from center to edges with greased hands.) Prick dough all over with fork. Let rise 10 minutes. Bake 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Place toppings on baked crust as directed above.
To make ahead, cook beef mixture ahead of time. Cool. Cover; refrigerate up to 2 days. Heat oven to 400°F approximately 20 minutes before serving time. Continue preparing pizza as directed above.
