3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 pound pork steak, trimmed, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
2 1/4 cups water
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can stewed tomatoes with garlic, herbs and onions, undrained, chopped
2 cups cubed peeled red potatoes
2 medium (1 cup) carrots, sliced 1/2-inch
1 rib (1/2 cup) celery, sliced
1 small (1/2 cup) onion, chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1 bay leaf
Chopped fresh parsley, if desired

Place 2 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt in large resealable plastic food bag; add pork cubes. Tightly seal bag; turn bag several times to coat pork well.

Melt butter in 4-quart saucepan until sizzling; add pork. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally,  7-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Add remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 cups water and all remaining ingredients except parsley. Cook over medium-high heat 3-4 minutes or until mixture comes to a full boil. Reduce heat to low; continue cooking 30-40 minutes or until vegetables are fork tender. Remove bay leaf.

Combine remaining 1 tablespoon flour and remaining 1/4 cup water in small bowl. Stir into stew. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, 3-5 minutes or until slightly thickened. Garnish each serving with parsley, if desired.

Recipe Comments & Reviews

This recipe is very good it did not need garlic to hide the taste
It's so delicious and easy!
loved this stew,I did not change a thing,it was wonderful and I will be making again and again
This is the best pork stew recipe ever. Simply delicious, and so easy to make. I have made this numerous times, and I told my friend about it. Now her family makes it all the time. Thanks for sharing this!
I'm a vegetarian with terrible cooking skills and made this for my family it was excellent! My husband and son finished the entire thing and my husband who normally hates everything I make said "you need to make this again". Very easy to make and it's fool proof if I can do it. I've made it with pork, beef and chicken always turns out great!
This sounds delicious. I have been looking for a pork stew as the church were I attend started a
Community Cafe a little over a year ago. Folks can come and enjoy fellowship and good hearty food.No cost and anyone can attend. We get donations of food and right now we have a freezer full of pork butt. This will be a great meal for all. We serve over 100 people and I am always searching for good meals.
I tweeked this recipe somewhat by using half chicken broth , half water . I sautéed the onion along with some garlic before I added the flour drenched pork, then browned the pork in the onions. I added a can of sweet kernel corn and a can of French cut green beans for the last 15-20 minutes and OMG ! This was DEELICIOUS !
Simple but amazing recipe ... opened my fridge and saw that i had everything except celery which i replaced with peas and it tastes bloody amazing!! Thank you very much. My family will definitely love this!
This is a great recipe for two, four or more family members. It is so easy, I can make it when I come home from work and have the meal on the dinner table in no time. I have shared with co-workers and friends and they have enjoyed it and will be making it themselves as well.
This was so easy and delicious. The only changes I made was leaving the celery out (didn't have any) and adding small black beans and paprika. I doubled the recipe and it was great!
The onion should be fried either with or after the pork. More flavor!
This was delicious! I was looking for a new recipe to use some boneless ribs in and came upon this. It was very easy to make and tasted great.
I was a bit skeptical and was pleasantly surprised. Its simple and fast to prepare. My husband LOVED it. I have shared it with my sisters too. Thanks for this!
Im making this for dinner tonight and it came out soooooo delicious. I used green chillies which added a delightful flavor to the stew. I've tasted it and I know my family will enjoy having this for dinner on this cold day.
Yesssss! Was a big hit with my family!
Made this tonight for the hubs and he loved it! I scaled the recipe up since I had more meat and needed to use up potatoes- delish! Next time I will brown the pork a bit more but all in all this was wonderful. Thanks LandoLakes!
Yum!...I didn't have seasoned tomatoes on hand so instead used a can of
diced tomatoes, added a garlic clove, used up four slices of prosciutto I had leftover in fridge
as well as 1/2 can of Cannelini beans. I reduced the salt because of the prosciutto and substituted
Sweet potatoes for the red potatoes....a great complete meal in one pot and so easy!
I'm glad I went with this recipe. I used already-cooked pork I bought from a Mexican restaurant that was too gamey to chew, and crushed tomatoes instead of chopped stewed ones. What a quick and easy way to enjoy all these ingredients I had laying around! Very delicious.
My husband and kids are very picky, but I get tired of cooking the same meals over and over. The store had a sale on pork stew meat so I tried this recipe, mainly due to the good reviews and simple recipe. The only change that I made was that I used a can of beef broth plus enough water to make it two cups (I believe the can was 14.5 oz). Everyone loved the stew!
This was so easy and delicious! My husband requested I make it again 2 days later :) The second time I added some Jamaican style dumplings to the stew, it was just as delicious and extra thick.
I made a double batch in order to have enough to give to a family in need and also to serve to my husband and me. We both loved it and hope that family we are taking it to tomorrow will also. I used thick lean pork loin chops cut into cubes and browned the pork in some garlic butter I happened to have on hand...this really kicked up the flavor. This is the only change made to this very easy recipe which would be great to serve for guests during these cold winter days.
