I added some sliced almonds in the batter and some on top before baking. I also added some orange zest to icing as suggested by others..
I love this recipe - a new one for us last Christmas. When I made it this year, I added some orange zest to the frosting for more orange flavor. They were a huge hit at work and at my cookie swap this year!
My family LOVES these cookie....Every year I get a request for these now!!! They have become a regualr Christmas cookie staple in our homes!!!
These cookies were such a hit with my family that some didn't last long enough enough to frost! They were exactly as I hoped, soft and flavorful. They really didn't take long to put together either. I wouldn't change a thing about the recipe but will look to drizzle the frosting on the cookie as others have done.
These are my new favorite cookie. The only thing I needed to change was in the frosting. I added orange zest because the orange juice did not provide enough orange flavor.

I've made these "scones" several times and each batch tasted as good as the first time. They are simple to make, are moist and flavorful without being overly sweet and stay fresh for a few days without getting hard. Great for morning group meetings or the weekly book club group.
I made a batch of these cookies last night. My coworkers at them in five minutes! Once they tasted them, they'd grab another cookie. It's a delicious and refreshing change from most cookies. It's light, fruity and great.Instead of putting a glob of frosting on the top. I put the frosting in a sandwhich bag, snipped off the end and drizzled the frosting back and forth on the cookie, then turned the cookie slightly and drizzled the opposite direction. Not only did I receive compliments on the taste, but on the design as well!
