How does she balance the desire to feed her kids the trendy, healthy foods she loves while pleasing their finicky palates? Flexibility is the name of the game. The pecan bars you've been waiting for: a butter crust with pecan pie-like topping.
Heat oven to 350°F. Combine butter and 1/3 cup brown sugar in small bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add flour; beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture forms a dough. Press evenly into ungreased 8-inch square baking pan. Prick with fork. Bake 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine 1/3 cup brown sugar, maple syrup and egg in small bowl; mix well.
Spread topping over hot, partially baked shortbread; sprinkle with pecans. Continue baking 12-16 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately run knife around edges to loosen. Cool completely. Cut into bars.

My favorite cookie of all time. Delicious.
Super easy and extremely tasty ! Have baked it numerous times everyone loves them!!!!
Simple, tasty...definitely worth making over and over and over again!
This is a great and easy recipe. The shortbread crust is wonderful and so is the topping. It's a great way to have pecan pie without having a whole slice of pie, although if you are not careful you can eat more than what would be a piece of pie! I will be making this again and again.
