Buttercream frosting on a birthday cake makes for the ultimate creamy, sweet treat.
Beat butter in bowl at medium speed until creamy.
Gradually add powdered sugar and salt alternately with half & half and vanilla, beating at low speed and scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Stir in corn syrup.
Chocolate Frosting: Stir in 2 to 3 squares melted and cooled unsweetened baking chocolate.
Lemon or Orange Frosting: Stir in 1 tablespoon freshly grated lemon or orange zest.
Creamy Coconut Frosting: Stir in 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut extract or flavoring.
Dietary Fiber: 0g
Makes a lot of frosting! Not enough vanilla, however. Made a note on my recipe to add more when I make it again.
I was looking for the best recipe for vanilla buttercream frosting for our wedding cupcakes and this was the best. Although it can be on the sweet side, I just omit 1/2 to 1 cup of the powdered sugar and it is perfect. Did I mention my husband also loved the recipe and he is a chef!
This is the only way to fly with Devil's Food. It is ultra sweet, but what do you expect? It is buttercream frosting! It is supposed to be ultra sweet. This is just like you had it growing up.
I tried the lemon variation but still found the frosting to be overly sweet
very nice and if you like it extra sweet..this ones for you
