Rich toffee almond bars are perfect for entertaining.
Heat oven to 350°F. Combine flour, sugar and
almonds in large bowl; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes.
Combine sweetened condensed milk, toffee bits, egg and vanilla in small bowl. Pour mixture over hot, partially baked crust. Top with remaining almonds. Continue baking 23-27 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely. Cut into squares.

This is a great recipe and the bars are quite yummy. I do, however, use almond flavoring instead of the vanilla.
I have made this recipe numerous times and have received rave reviews. When my girlfriend's family travels to Atlanta I make a tin of these cookies for their mother/grandmother. She is your number one fan. Thanks for providing a terrific, easy-to-make cookie!
Tip: Perhaps my lack of experience is showing, but I never achieved "coarse crumbs" before pressing the crust mixture into the pan -- the batter was still quite chunky in some parts and powdery in others -- but everything blended just fine in the oven with no powdery pockets or burned butter spots.
