Halloween Party Pops

These buttery sugar cookies-on-a-stick are sure to be a hit at any family or neighborhood Halloween party!

1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
30 wooden craft or lollipop sticks


2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
Food color, if desired


Decorator candies or sugars, if desired


Heat oven to 375°F.

Combine 1 cup butter, brown sugar and 1/2 cup sugar in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and cinnamon; beat at low speed until dough forms a ball.

Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Place 3 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each to about 2 inches wide with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Insert craft stick to center of each cookie. Bake 7-9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Let stand 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.

Combine powdered sugar and 1/4 cup butter in bowl. Beat at medium speed, gradually adding enough half & half for desired spreading consistency. Tint with food color, if desired. Frost cookies; top with decorator candies or sprinkle with decorator sugars, if desired.

Cameron - You are so right! We appreciate your comments. Unfortunately the vanilla was inadvertantly left out of the recipe when it was added to the web site. I have added the vanilla to the recipe now. Thanks for letting us know!
We loved making these cookies and everyone enjoyed them. The cinnamon is a nice touch. The only problem is the recipe says to add vanilla but does not give an amount. I added 1 tsp. and they turned out great! This is definitely a recipe I will be keeping.
