Ingredients

Cupcakes

1 (15.25- to 16.5-ounce) package white cake mix

1 cup canned coconut milk or milk

1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

3 large Land O Lakes® Eggs

1 cup sweetened flaked coconut, if desired

Frosting

3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 teaspoon coconut extract or vanilla

1 to 2 tablespoons milk

Decorations

Black decorator gel

Black dot shaped gummy candy and/or black gumdrops

How to make

  1. STEP 1

Heat oven to 350°F. Place paper baking cups into 24 muffin pan cups; set aside.

  2. STEP 2

Combine all cupcake ingredients in bowl; beat at medium speed until well mixed.

  3. STEP 3

Spoon batter evenly into prepared muffin pan cups. Bake 20-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.

  4. STEP 4

Combine all frosting ingredients except milk in medium bowl. Beat at medium speed, adding enough milk for desired spreading consistency.

  5. STEP 5

Place cupcakes onto 13- to 15-inch round serving plate or pizza pan. (Cupcakes do not have to be in a perfect circle but should be very close together.) Frost over cupcakes and spaces between to create large surface.

  6. STEP 6

Make web design by placing dot of black decorator gel on center of cupcake. Draw 4 circles around dot, using toothpick. Pipe over circles with black decorator gel. Drag toothpick from center dot out to edges of each cupcake.

  7. STEP 7

Create spiders using candies as desired; place onto spider web.

Tip #1

- Small and large tubes of decorator gel and sparkle gel are sold in the baking aisle of most supermarket and craft stores. It is not the same as decorator icing.

Tip #2

- Purchase small plastic spiders to place on top of cake instead of creating them. They can generally be found in craft stores.
