The pumpkin pie spice and browned butter glaze add wonderful flavors to this cookie.
Heat oven to 400°F.
Place 1 cup butter into bowl; beat at medium speed 30 seconds. Add sugar, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda and salt; continue beating, scraping bowl occasionally, until well mixed. Add egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla; beat until well mixed. Add flour; beat at low speed until well mixed.
Place dough into cookie press fitted with desired template. Press cookies, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 5-8 minutes or until edges are set but not brown. Transfer to cooling racks; cool completely.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in 1-quart heavy saucepan over medium heat. Cook 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly and watching closely, until butter just begins to turn golden brown. Immediately remove from heat. Cool slightly.
Combine browned butter and powdered sugar in bowl. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and enough milk for desired glazing consistency. Drizzle over cooled cookies.

Wonderfully easy dough to work with. The pumpkin spice adds a nice touch to these spritz cookies. I ended up thinning the glaze and painted it on with a basting brush so that it added just a hint of extra sweetness.
I've made Spritz Cookies for over 65 years. My Grandmother would stand the Grandchildren up on a chair in order to help her when she was baking. She had a small Spritz Press that had to be operated by twisting a screw type of handle to produce the shape of choice. We were so proud to be 'helping' her and to be making such pretty cookies. She helped us to use colors in the different batches of dough. We sometimes topped them with colored sugar or sprinkles which we applied before baking. Each of our eight families received a box of treats from Grandma for the Holiday-topping each box would be some of the cookies we had helped to bake. Those memories have been carried in or hearts for all these years. In my heart this was a real lesson about how to show love to your future generations.Obviously we never had this delicious flavored recipe. I thank you for a new addition for our Family Recipe Box. I will be contacting the Cousins to share this recipe and the memories it will evoke.Thank you L-O-L for a real treat.
