This cappuccino brownie recipe is fudgy and decadent with a hint of coffee flavor.
Heat oven to 350°F. Combine 1 tablespoon espresso powder and hot water in small bowl; stir to dissolve. Set aside.
Melt 1 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup butter in 3-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, 4-7 minutes or until smooth. Remove from heat; stir in espresso mixture, sugar and vanilla. Add 1 egg at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add flour, baking powder and salt; stir until well mixed.
Spread mixture into greased 8-inch square baking pan. Bake 33-38 minutes or until brownies just begin to pull away from sides of pan. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely.
Combine 1 teaspoon espresso powder and 2 tablespoons milk in small bowl; stir to dissolve. Add powdered sugar and 1/4 cup butter. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often and adding enough milk for desired spreading consistency. Frost cooled brownies.
Melt 1/3 cup chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth.
Drizzle chocolate over frosting; swirl with toothpick or knife for marbled effect.

Best brownie recipe I have ever made, and most delicious brownies I have ever eaten. LOVE them! I also used instant coffee instead of espresso mixture and they turn out just as great. Anytime I have to make a special dessert for anything I always make these- and people always love them! (as long as they like coffee) Make sure not to over bake these though- they are gooey in the center even when they are finished, so the toothpick does not come out totally clean. BUT f you don't like fudgey gooey brownies just bake them a few minutes more, and they'll be less gooey, just don't super cook them and burn them.Overall the best brownie ever! (I would eat the whole pan if I could!) Delicious!
When making these, I only had instant coffee as opposed to espresso and they still turned out delicious. No other alterations to the recipe - great as is. Will definitely make these again. Another commenter has it right, "Grown-up tasting brownies"!
I don't want to say how good or how easy this recipe is. I'll enjoy my exclusive till others catch up. Truly exquisite!
