Chocolate Banana Streusel Muffins

The delicious flavor of banana bread is made into muffins and topped with an irresistible streusel topping.

1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 medium (1 cup) ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt


1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips


Heat oven to 350°F. Place paper baking cups into 12 muffin pan cups; set aside.

Combine 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup butter in bowl. Beat at medium speed, until creamy. Add bananas, egg and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed.

Place 1 cup flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt into another bowl. Stir flour mixture into banana mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter evenly into prepared muffin cups.

Combine all streusel ingredients except chocolate chips in bowl; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Spoon evenly over top of muffins.

Bake 18-25 minutes or until light golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes; remove muffins from pan to cooling rack.

These turned out greasy--too much butter.
Excellent muffins! They were moist, had a great banana taste that went perfect with the chocolate! We loved these!
Moist and delicious. I didn't have buttermilk so I did the vinegar/milk trick and they came out just fine.
Very moist and good streusel. Didn't taste very banana-like but still yummy!
Very good! The topping became almost toffee-like. I put walnuts in a few (my kids don't like nuts). I only got 10 regular size muffins.
This recipe is moist and yummy. I make these for church bake sales and they always disappear.
I just made these today. They were excellent. Instead of 12 standard muffins, I made six in the large size tin, greased and floured with Wondra, baked for 30 minutes. They slid right out after cooling for five minutes.
Easy to make and they are very god
