Margherita Pasta

All the flavors of margherita pizza are made into an irresistible pasta dish.

Ingredients

6 ounces (1 1/2 cups) uncooked dried penne pasta
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh garlic
2 medium (2 cups) tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Directions

Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain; return to saucepan. Keep warm.

Melt Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt in 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until sizzling. Add garlic; cook 30 seconds or until softened. Add tomatoes and basil; continue cooking, stirring occasionally, 1-2 minutes or until heated through. Add pasta and Parmesan cheese, stir until combined. Serve immediately.

Love this recipe. Super easy to make and the whole family loved it. It is one of my go to recipes for when I need to make something in a pinch.
We love this pasta treat...We added a lemon wedges for garnishing. I froze half of the sauce for the next meal I needed a quick fix. It came out just fine. This is a keeper recipe for our family.
this is excellent! next time I will try adding some spicy Andouille sausage. So easy, quick and inexpensive.

This is very good as written. However, I think it could be excellent if you halved the butter it calls for. I'm going to make this again to see but using the exact measurements written, it was overwhelmingly oily IMO.

I saw this on a commercial and needed something quick and easy for dinner so I decided to try it. It was awesome! I actually used some quick cook pasta...took only 3 minutes to cook, so my dish was on the table in only about 10 minutes! (I also added shrimp.) Can't beat that for a wholesome, healthy meal my whole family enjoyed.
I made this tonight, and it was awesome! It was easy, fast and delicious. I saw this on your butter commercial with Ree Drummond and found the recipe on your site! I made it exactly like the recipe called for, EXCEPT I used 2 cups of dried pasta. Turned out perfect!!!
My family loved this dish! The only thing I did different was to QUADRUPLE this recipe for my family of 7 because there are six males in my family. Good thing since they ate ALL OF IT! LOL! I also grilled some chicken and sliced it to add on top. Added some crusty french bread and this was an incredible meal that was super quick and easy! Will definitely make it again! :)
I made this last night using fresh tomatos & basil from our garden, lower carb pasta and a little extra butter. It was delicious. My husband is a "sauce & meat" guy when it comes to pasta but he really liked this. It was simple to put together and I will use it again.
I LOVE this recipe! It's delicious and so easy to make. I keep the extra butter in the freezer and defrost when needed. I've made it 3 or 4 times now exactly as directed and my husband and I both really enjoy it. It's especially good when homegrown tomatoes are in season and you have your own basil growing in your backyard! I like to use the lower glycemic pasta to make it healthier. I would say that it only serves about 3 for a main dish serving - maybe 4 or 5 as a side dish.
Hi! I was amazed at all the great reviews so even though I never cook, but have always wanted to, I decided to try it. It came out great and my Mom loved it and she is hard to please. Thanks for the great recipe!
Loved this! I doubled the butter, but I really didn't measure anything else so I am pretty sure that I had more pasta anyway. The basil really highlights the dish. I added grilled chicken and a little bacon and it just made it a really great dish.
Do you use a whole stick of butter or just half, etc? It doesn't state it here.

Land O Lakes(R) Butter with Olive Oil and Sea Salt comes in 1/4 cup sticks or half a stick of our regular butter. So, if using regular salted butter you would use 1/2 stick of the butter.

My husband and kids loved this! I didn't have regular penne pasta so I used whole wheat pasta and it was really good!! I would make this again!! It is pretty quick too!!
We had a couple leftover steaks from the night before in the fridge and were looking for a recipe to "repackage" them. Saw this recipe on the LOL commercial and thought "bingo!" Sliced the steak diagonally nice and thin and threw them in at the end phase. Just upped the parmesan a tiny bit and pinched in some salt. Voila! Tasty and simple!
HORRIBLE!! Took it to cookout of about 20 people and came home with the majority of it. Waste of time and money! Would not recommend!
Just made this for the first time. Being just one person I cut the recipe in half. Worked out great. I'll make this again and probably for a picnic.
This was so good! And it was super easy to make. I actually put it together at 7 at night after traveling all day! I added more basil than called for, and also added salt and pepper to taste. My husband went back for seconds. Next time, I'm going to make a double recipe so I can have seconds also!
I have made this numerous times over the years. I do add other fresh garden veggies such as zucchini, eggplant, squash and even throw in mushrooms when I have them on hand. I also add more Italian seasoning, especially oregano. It is a very satisfying dish especially when served with a meat side and salad.
Easy and heathy......what more can I say?

This has to be one of the easiest and quickest meals to prepare. I made this for dinner tonight and it was ready in 15 minutes. It was so good and fresh, perfect for this time of the year when I can go out to my yard and pick fresh basil and tomatoes. Will absolutely make this again and again!

Absolutely delicious! I just made this last night. I doubled the recipe and used various types of tomatoes (grape, yellow and red cherry, some orange and purple types). It was easy, used fresh ingredients (abundant this time of year) and tasty. I think I will also try this with chicken or shrimp next time. I did see the other idea of Italian sausage...I think I will try that as well.

This is very easy to make, very light and delicious. I have made it several times and will make it over and over again. I would suggest doubling the recipe if serving more than 2 people.

Great Recipe
I grilled some Italian Sausages, cut them into coins and added them to the pasta mixture. It was delicious.
I used Non-glutin pasta because I can't eat wheat.Just as good!!
Excellent dish. Restaurant quality, but even better.
