6 (1-inch thick) boneless center cut pork chops
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 large (1 1/2 cups) onion, coarsely chopped
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic
2 apples, cored, thinly sliced
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons chopped parsley, if desired

Sprinkle both sides of pork chops with salt and pepper. Melt Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt in 12-inch skillet over high heat until sizzling. Add pork chops; cook, turning once, 6-8 minutes or until pork is browned. Remove pork chops from pan; keep warm.

Reduce heat to medium; add onions and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, 1-2 minutes or until onions begin to soften. Add apples and lemon juice; continue cooking 3-4 minutes or until apples just begin to soften.

Reduce heat to low; return pork chops to pan. Cover; cook 6-10 minutes or until pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F. and is no longer pink. Remove pork chops from pan; keep warm.

Add maple syrup to pan. Increase heat to medium-high; cook, stirring occasionally, 5-7 minutes or until sauce comes to a boil and thickens.

Place apple mixture onto serving platter. Top with pork chops; sprinkle with chopped parsley, if desired.

Recipe Comments & Reviews

Made this tonight and it was excellent. Nice, tender and juicy pork chops. The apples and onion went very well together(I had frozen some apple slices from the summer, so this was the perfect time to use them!). Based on the previous reviews here I used 1/4 cup of maple syrup instead of 1/2 and it was fine. I do think it may have been too sweet with the 1/2 cup since the 1/4 cup seemed to be enough without overpowering the flavor of the onion and garlic. I also used unsalted butter(have a family member on salt-restriction)to cut down some of the sodium. I definitely plan to make this again and I may also add a bit more garlic(personal preference since I love it). A very delicious dish and easy to make!
Love this recipe. Ever since I made it for my husband the first time, now it's the only way he likes his pork chops. This recipe has become a family favorite.
This has become one of my favourite recipes - the combination of apples and onions complements pork perfectly. My only quibble is that it's too sweet; however, I cut the maple syrup in half (using 1/4 cup instead of 1/2 cup) and it turned out just the way I wanted, sweet but not too sweet.
This was exquisite! I added red peppers to the mixture and a hint of honey. and I used the land o lakes garlic & herb butter.....It was to die for.
Perfect! How good to be able to follow a recipe and it come out as pictured and the taste was wonderful. (Might use less sweet syrup next time, though)
we loved this meal. i used sugarfree syrup and a little less onion and it was excellent

I enjoyed this recipe. Next time, I'd probably use a little less maple syrup, it was a little too sweet for my taste, but still very good. Very tender pork chops and loved the flavor of the apples.
