Turkey Apple Sliders
Lean ground turkey, thin mini buns, and a lower fat cheese make these tasty little burgers a lighter option for outdoor grilling.

1 pound ground turkey
1/4 cup Italian-flavored breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon olive oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons honey mustard
12 mini whole wheat thin sandwich buns*
12 small lettuce leaves
1 small Fuji or Gala apple, cored, thinly sliced into rings
Heat gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
Combine all burger ingredients in medium bowl; mix well. Shape mixture into 12 patties.
Place patties onto grill. Grill, turning once, until internal temperature reaches at least 160°F. or 8-10 minutes or until meat is no longer pink in center. Top each burger with 2 quarters cheese; continue grilling 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Assemble each slider by spreading 1/2 teaspoon honey mustard onto bottom half of each mini bun. Top each with 1 small lettuce leaf, 1 apple ring and 1 burger. Cover with top half of mini bun. Serve immediately.
*Substitute small dollar-sized bakery buns.
