Hot Basil & Artichoke Cheese Dip
Fresh ingredients like tomato and basil turn American cheese into a delicious appetizer. Crusty French bread or crostini make great dippers.

1 (14-ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained, chopped
1 cup grape tomatoes, cut in quarters
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons sliced green onion
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
Dash hot pepper sauce, if desired
Crostini, sliced sourdough bread, crackers, etc.
Combine cheese, artichokes, tomatoes, water and green onion in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH (100% power), stirring every minute, until cheese is melted and smooth (4 to 5 minutes). Stir in basil and hot pepper sauce, if desired.
Serve immediately with crostini, bread and/or crackers.
- Serve this dip in a small slow cooker set to low. Stir occasionally.
- To make ahead, prepare all ingredients except breads or crackers. Cover; refrigerate. Just before serving, heat in microwave.
